The sound is missing. The image stutters. Is the device broken?
Objects are assigned specific functions. When something loses one or more of its functions, concern arises about restoring those functions. If this does not succeed, what remains is a non-functional, defective, unusable – and thus meaningless – object.
Technical devices are operated via their user interfaces. This interior consists of a deliberate composition of individual parts. Taken together, these result in functions that endow the object with certain properties.
When a device is defective, I enter its now “unusable” space, dissolve the arrangement I find by dismantling it i, and cast it in latex.
